Discover my Story

I am born and raised in the province of Groningen in the Netherlands. Since my childhood I have always been curious about the world and my surroundings. That’s why I moved to the USA when I was 17 years old. There I lived in several host families, and they were really cultural adapted. Here it was my very first time I came into contact with abstract art. I absolutely loved the Matisse exhibition I saw at MoMA in 2014.

After this year of new experiences and insights I moved back to the Netherlands. During this period I started to paint. After a year of full surrendering to art I applied to the Art Academy Minerva in Groningen. Here I was creating and learning about art and started to make big installations with plastics and potting soil. I got an interest for performance art, were I was inspired and curious by the reactions of the spectators. I wanted to shock the crowd with bodily movements.

After these researches I started to paint, big monumental paintings where I want to delve myself into the painting. The monumental canvas helps me to express my feelings and emotions, in this way I can really move into the space of the canvas. I am inspired by colors, structures, light and darkness. These movements create a dynamic dimension on the flat surface.

I want the spectator to emerge into my paintings. Behind the surface there are landscapes that you could see if you look closely. I hope you will find them too.
